Our 2-Year Genetic Health Guarantee
It is hereby agreed by both parties that the following conditions will be met and that no other warranties or conditions are expressed or implied. This agreement is for the benefit of both the buyer and seller. It is the intent of the breeder to guarantee that each puppy is healthy at the time of adoption or delivery. Therefore, we ask that the buyer makes every reasonable effort to have the puppy examined by a vet within 3 days of possession. Since we cannot control the environment of the puppy after it leaves the breeder, this agreement is null and void if the buyer is negligent in securing a timely vet visit after bringing the puppy home.
General Agreements:
- Any refund shall never be in excess of the original purchase price of the puppy.
- Buyer is welcome to pick up their puppy from the breeder and is responsible for all transportation fees of the original puppy and any replacement puppy.
- The Buyer must return AKC and vet / vaccination paperwork with any puppy or dog that is returned for a replacement puppy.
- The Breeder cannot guarantee the puppy’s size, color, or temperament after the puppy leaves the Breeder.
- Buyer releases Breeder and Kauffman Companions, LLC from any and all liabilities, and/or damages by fault of this dog after the time of sale. These damages include, but are not limited to, destruction of property and/or physical damage to any person or group of people.
- Buyer assumes exclusive responsibility for all veterinary care and its associated costs.
- Buyer agrees that if for any reason during the puppy/dog’s life, they are unable to keep or provide for their puppy/dog, they will contact the Breeder to take the puppy/dog back or seek our assistance to help in rehoming the puppy/dog.
- Buyer regret, change of employment status, allergic reactions, etc are not grounds for a return/refund. We will always take the puppy / dog back, but any potential refund is at the sole discretion of the Breeder.
Communicable Disease Guarantee:
Should the puppy die from communicable disease (this does not include parasites or hypoglycemia) within 14 days of purchase and buyer promptly sought treatment by certified veterinarian, and if said vet certifies in writing that the pup was thought to have been exposed to the disease prior to leaving the breeder, buyer will get a full refund of purchase price of the puppy within 45 days of certification of death or autopsy report.
Note on parasites: Puppies’ immune systems are still developing, causing them to be vulnerable for internal parasites, especially under stress. Moving to a new home, buyer-elected travel, change of diet, and excessive handling are all stress factors that can compromise a puppy’s immune system response against worms, giardia, or coccidiosis. Every preventative effort has been made by the Breeder to mitigate these vulnerabilities. However, you should be aware of them possibly occurring. These conditions are all treatable and are not reasons to warrant a refund, return or exchange.
Genetic Health Guarantee: Puppies are guaranteed for two years (24 months) from date of birth against any fatal or life-altering disease which adversely affects the health of the puppy. This includes severe hip dysplasia that requires corrective surgery as well as kidney, heart, pancreas, spine and liver problems that are life threatening. If the puppy dies within this 2-year time-frame, the buyer must provide an autopsy. If the reason is congenital, the seller will replace the puppy.
Exclusions: This guarantee does not cover the following non-life-threatening conditions: cherry eye, loose hips, skin allergies, elongated soft palate and stenotic nares, bad or uneven bite, demodex mange and inguinal or umbilical hernias.
